Animating Pictures Slideshow?

Does anyone know of a way to apply transition animations to Slideshow.xml

I would like to achieve a slide transition animation similar to a fullscreen wraplist control when navigating left/right.

Anyone have any tricks/hacks/hints? It feels like MyPics section gets neglected a bit and I want to give it some love!
